Buyers' specifications for fabric manfuacturing
There are several technical requirements that buyers should be aware of when placing a bulk order for a fabric purchase with a manufacturer. These technical requirements include:
- Fabric composition: Buyers should specify the exact composition of the fabric, including the fiber content and blend percentages.
- Fabric weight: The fabric’s weight should be stated in grammes per square metre (GSM) or ounces per square yard (OSY).
- Fabric width: Buyers should specify the width of the fabric in inches or centimeters.
- Color fastness: It is essential to indicate the fabric’s colour fastness, which pertains to the fabric’s capacity to keep its colour after being cleaned, dried, or exposed to light.
- Shrinkage: The shrinkage of the fabric should be specified, which refers to the percentage of the fabric’s size that will shrink after washing.
- Finish: The finish of the fabric should be specified, which refers to the process that is used to give the fabric a desired texture or appearance, such as brushed cotton, sanding denim, etc.
- Testing standards: Buyers should specify the testing standards that the fabric must meet, such as ASTM, ISO, or AATCC standards.
- Quantity and delivery time: Buyers should specify the desired quantity of fabric to be produced and the expected delivery time, as well as any penalties or bonuses for early or late delivery.
- Packaging and labeling: Buyers should specify the desired packaging and labeling requirements for the fabric, including the method of packaging, the labeling format, and any special labeling requirements.
By providing these technical requirements to the manufacturer, buyers can ensure that the fabric they receive meets their desired specifications and quality standards.
Fabric Production / Manufacturing Process
1. Spinning:
- Raw cotton is cleaned and processed into yarn through spinning process.
- Different spinning methods can be used depending on the desired yarn quality, such as ring spinning, open-end spinning, or compact spinning.
2. Weaving/Knitting:
- The yarn is then woven or knitted into fabric.
- Weaving involves interlacing vertical and horizontal yarns to create a stable fabric structure.
- Knitting involves creating loops of yarn that interlock to form a flexible fabric structure.
3. Pre-treatment:
- The fabric is then pre-treated to remove any impurities or contaminants that may affect the dyeing or printing process.
- Pre-treatment processes may include washing, bleaching, or mercerizing.
4. Dyeing/Printing:
- The fabric is then dyed or printed with the desired colors and patterns.
- Different dyeing or printing methods can be used, such as reactive dyeing, disperse dyeing, or pigment printing.
5. Finishing:
- The fabric is then finished to enhance its appearance, texture, and durability.
- Different finishing processes can be used depending on the desired fabric properties, such as softening, wrinkle resistance, or water repellency.
- Finishing processes may include coating, embossing, or calendaring.
6. Quality Control:
- Throughout the entire process, quality control measures are implemented to ensure the fabric meets the required specifications and standards.
- Quality control measures may include visual inspection, physical testing, or chemical analysis.
7. Packing and Shipping:
- Once the fabric has passed quality control, it is packed and shipped to the buyer according to their specifications and requirements.

Most frequently used dye processes include, but are not limited to: Vat Dyes, Fiber Reactive Dyes, Direct Dyes, Jigger Dyes, Disperse Dyes, Sulfur Dyes and Pigment Dyes.
It also includes Desizing, Couring, Mercerizing, Bleaching & Washing based on the purpose of the fabric that is intended for end-use.
For white fabric, processing the scouring and bleaching is required. Scouring removes all types of waxes, and makes the fabric hydrophilic or water absorbent. The following process of decolorization of grey fabric into a suitable material is referred to as bleaching.
During bleaching process we mainly focus to control Shade variation, Continuity, Whiteness CIE rating, Washing, Checking change of shades after repeated washings. This enables the final white fabrics for the use of medical linen, home textiles and linen, institutional linen and textiles, hotel sector, outdoor purposes and sportswear.
The mills we work have qualified and experienced human resources that apply controls over printing process.
They focus to control design making fixation of design on printing machines, precise color matching according to pantone number or given color reference, Conform to color Fastness checks to Rubbing Washing, tear strength, tensile strength, light, GSM Bowing and final finishing of printed fabric
